Poultry wastewater mainly arises from activities such as cleaning, washing, and sanitizing poultry houses; troughs containing livestock feed. The flowing wash water carries along with it feces, feathers, and excess feed...
Treating poultry wastewater is a process that helps remove highly polluting components in water such as:
All of these are poultry waste components containing harmful substances to the environment and human health. It not only causes unpleasant odors but also pollutes the soil, reducing fertility. Additionally, untreated poultry wastewater can seep down and affect natural groundwater sources in the long run.
In the face of alarming pollution levels, livestock feed wastewater treatment technology is a matter of concern for many businesses.
By effectively applying this technology, business owners can ensure environmental sanitation and also utilize waste as fuel, fertilizer,...
Applying treatment technology to the poultry industry has numerous outstanding advantages, such as:
Mechanical, chemical, biological treatment methods can all be flexibly applied in the treatment process. Depending on the scale of the business, suitable methods will be chosen. Combining methods will result in high efficiency.
The process of poultry farm waste treatment is as follows:
Initially, wastewater from cleaning and sanitizing poultry houses will be collected in a wastewater pit. Trash screens on the surface of the pit will remove large solid waste to prevent clogging of sources and pipes.
In the pit, methane gas will be collected. This gas can be used as fuel for industrial gas stoves, burners, furnaces,...
The wastewater after coarse treatment will flow into a conditioning tank. Here, with a continuous aeration system, the flow rate and pollution levels are stabilized.
Subsequently, the wastewater will be directed to a biological treatment tank, consisting of anoxic-anaerobic-aerobic tanks.
Anaerobic microorganisms will decompose organic matter and metabolize nutrients.
Anoxic, aerobic microorganisms in the tank will carry out biological reactions to reduce BOD, COD levels by up to 85%.
Furthermore, these microorganisms will also perform denitrification and phosphorus removal reactions. After decomposing organic matter, the microorganisms will produce a large amount of sludge (microbial remains).
The water generated from the aerobic biological tank will circulate back to the aerobic tank. The sludge from livestock will be transferred to the settling tank.
In the settling tank, sludge will settle at the bottom. After a period, the sludge will be treated (used as biological sludge fertilizer,...).
Regarding the wastewater, after significant pollution reduction, it will be sent to the disinfection tank. Disinfectants in the tank (Javen, Chlorine,...) will eliminate harmful microorganisms: Coliform, E. coli…
Under the pressure of water flow and gravity, remaining suspended poultry waste will be filtered and retained by filter media layers here.
Poultry wastewater treatment is completed in this pressure tank and can be discharged into the environment in compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

Advanced domestic wastewater treatment technology by Toan A JSC
Domestic wastewater is one of the largest sources of pollution to the environment if not treated properly. In Vietnam, besides individual households, urban areas, apartment buildings, restaurants, hotels, and service establishments are required to comply with the treatment of domestic wastewater according to the QCVN 14:2008 standard set by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to ensure environmental safety and human health. Currently, there are many methods for treating domestic wastewater, each with its own characteristics and specific applications, suitable for different types of wastewater and specific requirements. Let's explore this issue further with Toan A JSC in the following article!
