Wastewater treatment technology refers to the methods and techniques used to remove various pollutants from wastewater, making it safe to discharge into the environment or reuse. Wastewater treatment methods include physical, chemical, and biological processes.
In an era where wastewater is increasingly diverse, including domestic, medical, and industrial wastewater, treatment is a crucial issue to ensure that the outgoing water meets safety standards or is suitable for reuse. Many individuals and businesses are interested in exploring advanced wastewater treatment technologies.

To meet the growing demands of customers, there are many wastewater treatment technologies available in the Vietnamese market today. However, this also poses challenges for customers, especially business customers, in choosing the appropriate high-tech wastewater treatment.
MBBR is known as a modern wastewater treatment technology worldwide, combining traditional Aerotank and aerobic biological methods perfectly. This technology is a biological carrier process originating from the use of various biological carriers in liquid treatment.

Specifically, the wastewater will be treated as follows: The waste is conveyed to a centralized wastewater collection tank. Biological carriers are pre-arranged in the tank. The outer surface of these carriers is covered with various microorganisms, forming a layer of microbial sludge.

Meanwhile, the inner layer of the carriers generates aerobic microorganisms that help process and decompose organic compounds in the waste. Anaerobic microorganisms inside the carriers help convert Nitrate salt into Nitrogen gas, bringing about effective pollution treatment in wastewater.
Simple operation, high BOD efficiency, fuel savings, and easy control processes with large capacities. However, the limitation of MBBR technology is its heavy reliance on the amount of microorganisms on the carriers.
AAO technology (A2O) is an advanced technology from the land of the rising sun. After years of application and technical improvements, AAO is chosen by many companies for its versatility in treating their liquid waste. The AAO waste treatment process applies more microbial systems than MBBR.

Specifically, the operation process of the AAO wastewater treatment system is divided into 3 stages: anaerobic, anoxic, and aerobic biological treatment.
This technology is preferred for waste from specific industries with high organic content. This helps limit the formation of algae and moss in rivers and canals after the waste is discharged.
AAO wastewater treatment has high capacity, cost-effectiveness, and quick adaptability to scale expansion or location changes when applied.
MBR biological membrane filtration technology is widely used today. Wastewater is collected and sent to a tank equipped with MBR biological membranes. The extremely small membrane pore size of about 0.01 ~ 0.2 µm helps the liquid waste achieve excellent quality after passing through the membrane. Most solid waste, inorganic and organic compounds, and sludge are retained on the membrane layer.

The operating process is not overly complex, eliminating disinfection tanks, settling tanks, and filtration tanks, maximizing space for businesses. Additionally, aesthetics and hygiene are highly valued.
Low operating costs and extremely superior treatment efficiency in a short time make MBR a popular choice for many businesses in their wastewater treatment processes.
However, the heavy reliance on MBR membranes is a significant drawback of this new technology.
SBR technology (Sequencing batch reactor) applies batch biological methods in the wastewater treatment process. SBR is highly regarded by experts for its waste treatment capabilities.

The operating principle of this technology is divided into two tanks: Selector and C-tech with a 5-phase cyclic process. Initially, wastewater is directed to the Selector tank for continuous aeration. This supports the subsequent aerobic biological treatment process, which then proceeds smoothly. Subsequently, the wastewater is transferred from the Selector tank to the C-tech tank for further treatment.
High stability, minimal labor requirements for operation, reducing costs for businesses. However, SBR is heavily dependent on the concentration of pollutants and nitrate salts in the sludge.
This technology is widely applied to most industrial waste types, especially those contaminated with chemicals and heavy metals with high color intensity.

By using microbial systems to decompose organic matter, this treatment process has good nitrate and phosphate removal capabilities instead of just using flocculation as usual.
The flexibility and harmony of chemical and biological technologies enhance waste treatment efficiency, save costs and energy. However, this method is quite dependent on the flocculation process due to pH effects.
If you are unsure about choosing the right treatment technology for your business, consider the following advice:
Given the deteriorating quality of the living environment today, applying the latest domestic wastewater treatment technologies in daily life, especially in industrial production processes, is essential.
